ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Technology (BTech.) Industrial Design

(a) UTME Requirements

Candidates seeking admission into the Department of Industrial Design for the bachelor’s degree programme must possess 5 credit passes at the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSSCE) or NECO or GCE O’Level or its equivalent in not more than two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and 2 of the following: Economics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Fine Art and Geography. Credit or Pass in Fine Art will be an additional advantage, while a pass grade in Physics will be acceptable.

UTME Subjects:

English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and any one of Fine Art, Physics, Geography and Economics.

(b) Direct Entry Requirements

In addition to satisfying the requirements in (a) above, candidates seeking admission through direct entry should have GCE (Advanced Level) passes in at least two subjects from the following: Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Physics, Fine Art, Technical Drawing or Economics. Holders of the National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of upper credit from recognized institutions may also be considered for admission, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements, and have passed in relevant subjects in the ND examinations at credit level.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Industrial Design

Candidates for admission into the PGD Programme should possesss any of the following qualifications:

i. B.Tech. in Industrial Design with at least 3rd Class Degree or its equivalent in Applied Arts in any of the available options from a reputable University in Nigeria or overseas.

ii. A minimum of Upper Credit in HND from any accredited Nigerian Polytechnic in any of the available options mentioned above.

Master of Technology (M.Tech) Industrial Design

Candidates for admission into this Programme must possesss any of the following qualifications:

i. B.Tech. in Industrial Design or Applied Arts in any of the optional areas of specialization mentioned above, with a minimum of 2nd Class (Hons.) or any equivalent degree in Industrial Design or Applied Arts from a reputable University in Nigeria or overseas.

ii. Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Design of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, with a minimum of Upper Credit, in addition to any HND Pass at Credit Level from any accredited Nigerian Polytechnic in the available options mentioned above.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Industrial Design

The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Design of the Federal University of Technology, Akure is Principally by Research. Candidates for admission into this Programme must possesss any of the following qualifications i addition to satisfying the general University Regulation for addmission:

i. M.Tech. Degree in Industrial Design of the Federal University of Technology, Akure or equivalent Master Degree in Industrial Fesign?Industrial Art or Applied Arts from a reputable University in Nigeria or overseas, in any of the options mentioned above.

ii. A research proposal of about 400 words stating emphatically, the research and proof of ability to pursue independent advanced research in the field of study.

iii. Candidates below an overall average of B at Master Degree are not eligible for admission, as there are no pre-doctoral programme.
